MEATBALLS

1 lb. ground beef
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
¼ cup shortening
½ cup beer
½ cup catsup
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
¼ tsp garlic salt
Chopped green onions (optional)

Combine ground beef, salt and pepper; mix well.  Shape into 1-inch meatballs.  Cook in hot shortening over medium heat 10 to 15 minutes or until browned.  Drain well on paper towels.

Combine next 6 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat; stir well.  Add meatballs and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Garnish with green onions.  Yield:  about 2 doz.
